The new Interpretation Center showcases the dynamism of Roquetas de Mar in and of itself, as it is precisely the town’s rapid evolution that is of interest. This implies a focus on the peculiar economic causes that brought about and boosted growth in the recent past, as well as on the social consequences being experienced in the present which pose challenges to be addressed in the future. Roquetas de Mar is a municipality that has lived through the spectacular growth of wealth and population experienced by the Province of Almeria during the last third of the twentieth century, recognized as the Miracle of Almeria.

This space has following general objectives:

To REDISCOVER the local heritage, to DISSEMINATE the values of the region, to RECOGNIZE its strengths and potential, and to PROMOTE a sense of belonging to the municipality.

The Interpretation Center has been designed for the CITIZENS of the municipality, so that they remember and come to know the history of their region and, in turn, appreciate it, learn to love it more, and better identify therewith. The space is also for those interested in urban and socio-economic phenomena.

PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL visitors should find here a comprehensive summary of recent urban evolution, the complex challenges faced, and how to address them.

And, finally, this center is also intended for TOURISTS interested in learning more about the area they are visiting so as to become familiar with its intricacies. The center is located on the three floors of Casa Anita and has a descending exhibition route.
